PVS Selects John Ertter as Executive Director

Over the past six months the PVS Board of Directors has taken a hard look at how we conduct the LSC’s business.  The organization, which now has over 8,000 members and an annual operating budget in excess of 1 million dollars, has become too large and complex to manage with purely volunteer support.  To address the Organization’s ever increasing business needs, the PVS House of Delegates approved creation of an Executive Director position.

 Effective September 1, 2007 John Ertter will assume the role of PVS’s Executive Director.  The position will be responsible for overseeing all day-today operations of the LSC and will coordinate and direct the activities of PVS’s Registrar, Administrator and Equipment Manager.  John will also continue to perform duties as PVS’s Controller.  The Executive Director will report primarily to the PVS General Chairman and secondarily to other members of the Board of Directors.  John will report to the Vice Chairman – Finance with respect to the Controller function.

John has been associated with PVS for over 20 years.  He has served as the LSC’s Vice Chairman – Finance, is co-chairman of the USA Swimming LSC Financial Management Task Force and has been the PVS Controller for the past three years.  John is also a PVS official, having worked the deck at all levels of PVS swim meets and officiated at the U.S. Open, U.S. National Championships and World Cup meets.  By profession John is a CPA having held numerous management positions with Pepco Holdings, Inc. prior to retiring in 2006.
