SENIOR PROGRAM COACH
SEA DEVIL SWIMMING (SDS)

  

Sea Devil Swimming (SDS) is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Program Coach at our South Run Facility.

Who we are:  SDS was founded in 1967 as a non-profit organization whose philosophy is to instill pride and values in our swimmers while working in a fun and supportive team environment.  The SDS program has over 600 swimmers of varying abilities and levels; we have swimmers just starting out who are learning the basic fundamentals of each stroke to Olympic Trial Qualifiers, as well as a Master program.  The program is headed by a volunteer board of directors and is run out of six locations within the Washington Metropolitan area. 

Position Description: We are looking for an energetic and motivated coach to join our program to help train and develop senior level athletes who are motivated and committed to competing at the zone, sectional, and national levels of competition. This position allows the coach to have the authority to help developing training programs for the site, with guidance and support of Head Coach Peter Karl and the coaches from our sites, as well as our admin staff. The Facility is the South Run Recreation Center (in the Springfield area of Northern Virginia), which is a training facility with a 10 lane competitive pool, a beach/wading area, handball & racket ball courts, aerobic equipment, and a poolside spa.

Desired Coaching Credentials and Experience:  The candidate for this position should possess ASCA Level 3, with ASCA Level 4 preferred; should have at least five years proven USS coaching experience and preferably will have a bachelor’s degree; will be responsible for all phases of running and managing a senior level training group, including the ability to operate Hytek Meet and Team Manager.  The candidate must be able to coach morning, afternoon, and weekend training sessions.  This position requires excellent communication skills and a passion for working with young people. 

Salary:  The starting salary is commensurate with experience and includes a 403B retirement plan.

Note: The applicant will also have the opportunity to augment the Senior Program Coach salary by working with additional training groups.
