Virginia Ratcliff and Cassidy Wolfe were elected as Athlete Representatives to the PVS Board of Directors for the term September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2009. Congratulations!
Nominations are now being accepted for election to the PVS Board of Directors as an Athlete Representative. As a result of the recent House of Delegates meeting and the USA Swimming requirement that athletes constitute at least 20% of the Board, two Athlete Representatives will be elected at this time. The Athlete Representatives shall serve as the liaison between the athletes who are members of PVS and the Board of Directors and House of Delegates. The term of office is September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2009.
Frani Hess is the incumbent and has announced that she will not be seeking re-election.
Virginia Ratcliff and Cassidy Wolfe have indicated their intentions to run for the position.
Any other athletes wishing to run for this position should contact Jim Garner by NOON on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at garner@garnerjim.net.
Elections will be held at the upcoming meets in July:
NOMINEE INFORMATION
All nominees are invited to submit a brief statement introducing themselves and why they wish to be elected. Statements will be posted as they are received.
Virginia (16) has been a US Swim athlete since 1999. She is interested in serving as an Athlete Representative to the PVS Board not only because she understands the pressures and opportunities of elite swimmers (she has three siblings who have made Eastern Zone teams and T-16 lists), but also because she recognizes that more than half of PVS swimmers, like her, do not always qualify for elite meets. These swimmers still make significant contributions to the sport of swimming – as coaches, lifeguards, meet volunteers, pool managers, etc. This year, Virginia earned the President’s Volunteer Service Bronze Award for hours volunteered at PVS meets and at Nadar Por Vida swim coaching at-risk and underprivileged kids.
Virginia lettered in swimming at Flint Hill School making the 500 free and 2 relay VSIS cuts. She is spirit coordinator for her summer swim team and is active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I have been a US Swim athlete for a total of three years; for Sea Devils in 2002, and currently for Machine Aquatics since the fall of 2005. I would like to serve as an Athlete Representative to the PVS Board because, even though I would be representing the non-elite group of swimmers, I recognize their abilities, and strive to be like them at every practice. Since my freshman year I have been on the Langley High School Varsity Swim Team , and have made it to States as both a sophomore and junior in the 200 Free relay. I also actively participate in my summer swim team as both a swimmer and coach.
