Rockville, Maryland
August 11-14, 2010
Mandatory Zone Team Meeting & Practice
Sunday August 8, 2010
9:30-11:00 am
Rockville Swim Center – Outdoor Pool
This meeting is mandatory for all swimmers and at least one parent per family. The Zone Team will have a very short practice, about one hour, and then meet with their coach. Parents will have an information meeting with the Team Manager, Dave Greene, starting at 10:00 am. We will also be handing out all Zone Team apparel at this time.
Potomac Valley Swimming will be represented with an All-Star Team at the 2010 Eastern Zone Long Course Championship Meet. This year the meet will be held in Rockville Maryland. The venues for this meet are Montgomery Aquatic Center (13 & Over Prelims and 11 & Over Finals) and the Rockville Municipal Swim Center (11-12 Prelims and 9-10 Timed Finals). The date for this meet is August 11-14, 2010.
This is a great chance for PVS swimmers to compete against the best in the East, and to get to know and develop friendships with swimmers from other Potomac Valley Clubs.
The PVS Long Course Zone Team is being managed differently this year. Since this meet is in our LSC, each swimmer will be staying at home or responsible for their own lodging and it is the swimmer’s responsibility to arrive on time at their appropriate pool.
Athletes who wish to participate on the team are requested to review both the 2010 Eastern Zone Maximum Qualifying Times and the 2010 Eastern Zone Minimum Qualifying Times to verify their eligibility. All athletes who have achieved at least one individual qualifying time (and are not excluded from participation by virtue of the Maximum Qualifying Times/Meet Participation Restrictions) are eligible to register for the team. Swimmers who register for the team will be entered into all eligible events provided they do not exceed the daily or meet entry maximums. Each swimmer may enter a total of six individual events, not to exceed three individual events per day. Swimmer’s age for this meet is their age as of August 11, 2010. Entry qualifying times are LONG COURSE METERS ONLY, and must have been achieved after August 12, 2009 and must have been achieved in a USA Swimming sanctioned, observed or approved meet. Converted times will not be accepted.
For any times not already in the PVS Team Manager Online data base, athletes must provide the times and source of the electronic file (if possible) to the PVS EZ Team Manager and to the PVS Webmaster. Make sure you provide EVENT, TIME, NAME OF MEET AND MEET LOCATION. Times will only be accepted from Sanctioned meets, Approved meets or Observed meets.
Updating Event Entry Information: PVS will review all registrations received to determine if additional events and/or improved seed times are achieved at the PVS Senior, Junior or 14 &U Age Group Championships and the 2009 Eastern Zone Speedo Super Sectional Meet. Any athlete who qualifies for events in excess of what is permitted will be contacted by the Zone Team Manager to determine from what event he/she wishes to withdraw. If additional events and/or improved seed times are achieved at a meet not listed above, the swimmer must submit this information to the PVS Zone Team Manager, Dave Greene, no later than 12 noon on Monday August 2, 2010. You must have already submitted a registration in a timely manner in order to do so.
Registrations to participate on the PVS Zone Team are to be submitted directly by each athlete’s family for each swimmer wishing to enter the meet. While information about your coach is requested on the form, entries are NOT to be submitted through the teams. Zone rules require that all entries must be submitted through PVS. The Zone Meet Director will NOT accept entries submitted by individual swimmers, parents or by PVS clubs.
The charge for participating in this meet will be $160 per athlete. Your entry will not be considered complete until full payment is received. Payment is due with the registration form. The registration fee pays for the athlete’s meet entry fee, team suit, 2 t-shirts and 2 swim caps. Those who did not participate on the 2010 Short Course Zone Team will also receive team warm ups. Those who did participate on the 2010 Short Course Zone Team will receive a team towel and training swim suit. Team back packs, towels and training suits will be offered as optional items for team members to purchase. All checks should be made out to Potomac Valley Swimming.
Clarification: For those swimmers who participated in the 2010 Spring
SC Zone Meet, you will receive a training suit and TOWEL. We are aware
that some information indicated a towel while other information listed
a bag. We apologize for any confusion that may have caused.
In
Addition, we are happy to announce that each swimmer participating on
the 2010 Summer LC Zone Team will be received a THIRD t-shirt as part
of their apparel order. All apparel will be delivered to swimmers at
the mandatory meeting on August 8.
Please submit the registration packet in its entirety (including all forms and payment) by the applicable deadlines:
15 & Over – Wednesday July 21, 2010
14 & Under – Wednesday July 28, 2010
These registration deadlines have been set so PVS will have sufficient time to make the necessary arrangements for the team. A request for registration fee refund must be received no later than 5:00 pm Monday August 2, 2010.
Additional Information: You may direct your inquiries regarding team participation to Dave Greene, Team Manager or Steve Menard, Head Coach.
