PVS Swimmers Compete in U.S. Paralympics Open Championships

PVS swimmers Toni Davis (Elite Rays Swim Club) and Alice Ranagan (Sea Devils Swimming) competed in the Inaugural U.S. Paralympics Open Swimming Championships Dec 8-10, 2005 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. This event, the largest IPC Swimming approved competition to ever be held in the USA outside of the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta, attracted athletes from 16 countries (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Norway, Panama, Taiwan, and the USA) and featured many top medalists from the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games.

Paralympian Toni Davis swam a personal best time while finishing 3rd in the 50 M Backstroke (S8 Classification) and also garnered 3rd place in the 50 M Freestyle. Alice Ranagan (also S8 classification) garnered 1st place in the 200 M Freestyle and also swam a personal best in finishing 4th in the 50 M Backstroke.
