PVS 2003 Long Course Championship Meets
General Information


Several major changes are being made to the format of the PVS 2003 Long Course Championship Meets this summer. The following is a summary of how these meets will be swum in 2003. The changes are (n part) a result of a decision made at the 2002 House of Delegates meeting to include the 13-14 age group in the PVS Age Group LC Championship meet.


PVS Age Group Long Course Championship Meet
  • Meet will be held July 17-20, 2003 at GMU.
  • It will NOT be held between prelim and finals of PVS Seniors as in past summers.
  • Women and Men's 13-14 Events are being added to the meet.
  • Meet will be swum in a prelim/finals format for all individual events, except those events 400 meters or longer.
  • There will be two finals heats of 11-12 and 13-14 events, one final heat of 10/U events.
  • Prelim/final events will be swum on Thursday, Friday and Sunday
  • 11-12 and 13-14 timed final events will be swum on Saturday afternoon. There will be NO 10/U events swum on Saturday.
  • The Order of Events and QT's for this meet are attached.

PVS Junior Long Course Championship Meet
  • This meet will now be swum between prelims and finals of PVS Senior LC Championship meet.
  • It will be held July 10-13 at GMU.
  • Order of Events remain unchanged except that Women's 1500 Free and Men's 800 Free will now be swum on Thursday, following distance events of PVS Senior Championships. Olympic distance events will now be swum on Sunday
  • Swimmers's who would be eligible to swim an event at either PVS Senior LC or PVS Age Group LC Championship Meet will not be permitted to enter that event at the PVS Junior Championship meet.
  • Meet will continue to only be open to swimmers 13 years old and older.
  • As was done last summer, entry times must be LCM. Converted times and "NT's" will NOT be accepted.
  • The meet announcement has NOW been posted.
. PVS Senior Long Course Championship Meet
  • No significant changes are being made to this meet. It will be held July 10-13, 2003 at GMU.
  • No change in the QT's or Order of Events have been made.
  • The meet announcement has been posted.

An evaluaton of these meets will be made before any plans for summer 2004 are finalized.
