Lane Closures on Capital Beltway in Md.

Maryland highway officials are warning of major delays this weekend on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway as they close lanes to repave a two-mile section between U.S. 29 and Georgia Avenue.

The lane closures are scheduled for 8 tonight through 11:30 a.m. tomorrow and for overnight Saturday and Sunday. Highway officials are asking motorists, particularly beachgoers, to use alternate routes.

Significant delays occurred the weekend of June 28-30 when the outer loop was repaved with similar lane closures. The repaving is one of the last steps in a year-long project to replace four decaying Beltway bridge decks in Montgomery County.
