2001 PVS SHORT COURSE ZONE TEAM

The Eastern Zone 2001 All-Star Short Course Age Group Championship will be held at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex, Landover, MD, March 29 thru March 31, 2001. Because this meet is being held within PVS, the coaches have voted not to house our short course zone team in a hotel. This will give our athletes a chance to rest in their own beds as well as eat meals they are accustomed to. This is a good opportunity for PVS swimmers to compete against the best in the East. All PVS swimmers are encouraged to apply for selection to the team. No swimmer will be selected for more than six events.

PVS will provide a team outfit package to each swimmer to include: a team swimsuit, T-shirt, swim cap, and team bag. A substantial portion of the team's cost is to be offset by PVS.

PVS ZONE PURPOSE
The purpose of the Short Course Zone Team is to prepare Potomac Valley swimmers to compete in a team environment at a national level meet.

SELECTION OF ZONE TEAM ATHLETES
12 & Under

  • Must have Zone Team Application on file by February 12, 2001.
  • Fastest two swimmers from each age group, each event.
  • Times from September 1, 2000 thru the conclusion of PVS 14 & Under Junior Olympic Championship Meet, March 11, 2001.
  • Selection and outfitting will occur at this meet during finals on Sunday, March 11

    • 13 & Over

  • Must have Zone Team Application on file by February 12, 2001.
  • Fastest two swimmers from each age group, each event.
  • Times from September 1, 2000 thru Eastern Zone Section II SC Meet, March 18, 2001. Times from time trials are not permitted.
  • Selection and outfitting will occur at this meet during finals on Sunday, March 18

    • Zone rules specify that no swimmer who has participated in an individual event in the National Championships or Olympic Trials may enter this meet. Swimmers who have achieved a USA Swimming Championship time standard may not enter that event or swim the same relay leg.

    VERIFICATION OF TIMES FROM NON PVS MEETS IS REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION. NAME AND LOCATION IS REQUIRED FOR PVS TIMES.

    Zone Team attire must be worn at prelims and finals. Because swimmers selected for the team represent all the swimmers in POTOMAC VALLEY, they are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all times. Disciplinary problems may result in swimmers being sent home at the parent's expense, exclusion from future PVS Zone Teams, exclusion from PVS Camps, and forfeiture of PVS travel support. Selection to the Zone Team is a significant accomplishment and honor which carries with it certain responsibilities. It is a great experience and a chance to SWIM FAST!!
